About Dover Hall

Dover Hall sits on 55 private acres in Goochland County, about 10 minutes from the Short Pump area of Richmond. The 38,000-square-foot estate is built in an English Tudor style — think pointed arches, rich furnishings, velvet couches, intricate details, and a look that feels like a fairytale brought to life.

The estate was originally a private residence before opening as an upscale wedding and events venue in 2014. It’s a fully turn-key venue, with an in-house culinary team, curated beverage packages featuring wines from their sister property 7 Lady Vineyards, and a dedicated event staff. Every detail is handled so you can stay present and enjoy a magical day.

Wedding Day Timeline

A Dover Hall wedding day is designed to easily flow from one gorgeous space to the next.

The day usually starts with both wedding parties getting ready on-site — the bride and her crew in the Queen Elizabeth Suite, a 2,400-square-foot private wing filled with natural light, hair and makeup stations, and plenty of space to get glam. The wedding party also gets the Billiards Room, a Teddy Roosevelt-era trophy room with a pool table and large TV. Both rooms offer the perfect space to spend time with your people leading up to your big moment.

From there, guests gather for the ceremony, flow into cocktail hour, and then head into the reception. Single-day events include 12 hours of access to the estate, so nothing feels rushed.

Ceremony & Reception Spaces

Dover Hall can host up to 400 guests and offers various indoor and outdoor spaces for your special day.

• Outdoor ceremony spaces – Choose from several scenic locations, including the Reflecting Pool, Bluestone Terrace, Two-Tiered Garden, Rose Garden, and Cobblestone Court.
• The Ballroom – A dreamy indoor ceremony option that also doubles as a reception space, seating up to 125 for a plated dinner or up to 200 for a station or cocktail-style event. 
• The Glass Hall – A 6,400 sq ft space with 13-foot glass walls and 24-foot ceilings with chandelier lighting. This is the go-to for larger receptions, accommodating up to 400 guests.
• First floor & gardens – The perfect spot for cocktail hour for guests to explore the two-tiered Library, formal Dining Room, Parlor, and Pub Bar, or enjoy the lush outdoor gardens.

How much does a wedding at Dover Hall cost?

Most couples spend between $25,000 and $90,000 for a Dover Hall wedding, depending on whether you’re planning a single-day or full weekend celebration.

Single-day packages start at $25,000 and include 12-hour access to the estate, getting-ready spaces, ceremony and reception furniture and linens, event staff, and more. Three-day weekend packages start at $90,000 and add full weekend access to the estate, lodging, and chef’s breakfast for up to 10 overnight guests.
